A study by a delhi based NGO found that a whopping 90% of the nursing and 50% technicians and many doctors admitted using mobiles during operations. This is a disturbing trend which needs to be looked into. We have come across cases wherein doctors leaving behind foreign particles inside the patients body due to negligence, endangering the lives of patients. Attending text msgs, calls cud be contributing to such incidents. Surgery, major or minor are highly skillful job which needs concentrated effort by all involved. Carrying mobile phones inside the operation theatre shud be banned altogether by the hospital administration to avoid fatality to patients, especially radiation. No doubt, many a failed operations cud be result of avoidable negligence on the part of operating staff. Govt shud look into this area at once.
