It's dissppinting to note that U,R.Ananthamurthy, the well known Kannada writer lost out to American Author Lydia Davis after being shortlisted for Man Booker International Prize. Neverthless, Ananthamurthy still remains one of the formost authors in India and his Masterpiece "Samskara"is the pathbreaking navel in Kannada Langauage and perhaps best novel ever to be written by a Indian author in the 2nd half of 20th century. No doubt, he has been awarded Padma Bhushan and Jnanapith and Man booker wud have been icing on the cake... Hope he regains his failing health and writes some more thought provoking novels...
